SVAY RIENG (The Cambodia Herald) -- Former Bavet governor Chhouk Bandith's case went before Svay Rieng Provincial Court Wednesday.
Bandith, who was removed from post after the incident, is accused of seriously injuring three women when he opened fire in a crowd of protesting workers in Bavet’s Manhattan Special Economic Zone (SEC).
In the hearing, that lasted a whole morning, the court questioned all three victims, Keo Nea, Nuth Sakhorn and Both Chenda who were wounded in the last year's shooting.
The hearing that will last for three days was attended by human rights activists, union leaders and officials from the German sportswear maker, Puma, but his defense lawyer wasn't present.
Earlier in 2013, a Svay Rieng judge had dropped the charges against Chhouk Bandith who was first accused of unintentional injury, saying that the court didn't have enough evidence.
But in March, The Court of Appeals ordered Svay Rieng Provincial Court to review the case once more.
